Sri Hemkunt Foundation Speech Competition

The mission of Sri Hemkunt Foundation International Symposium is to encourage children (6-25 years old) to learn the different aspects of Sikh history and to present their thoughts in a coherent and consistent fashion. The younger children will read books that present various aspects from Sikh history whereas the older children will read books that talk about Sikh philosophy.

Participation in this event helps the children gain a deeper knowledge about their religion and at the same time teaches them skills in public speaking and develops their confidence in talking in front of large audiences.

There are three levels of the competition

  1. Center level (Khalsa School is two of the centers)
  2. Zonal level (Silicon Valley is two of the 16 International zones)
  3. International level (The top two students from each zone participates here)

Winners of each level go on to compete at the next level of the competition. Typically the first two places go on from Center level to Zonal level, but more will go depeneding on the actual participation. Only the first and second placed Zonal contestant goes on to the International competition.

This years International competition will be held in Sacramento California from  July 27th to 30th 2017.
